FAQ
Q. WHAT TYPE OF CAMERA DO YOU USE?A. I am lucky enough to use a Linhof 617 pamoramic camera. This is a film camera. I also use Canon and Hasselblad digital cameras. The majority of my work is with film.
Q. ARE YOUR PHOTOS COMPUTER ENHANCED OR MANIPULATED?A. I shoot with both film and digital cameras. All my film, needs to be processed at some stage through a computer, ie drum scanning. I do not manipulate my photography. I use standard and enhanced techniques to extract the image·from the camera.
Q. DO YOU USE FILTERS?A. I use a few different filters. The most important is the alarm filter, to make sure I'm awake at 4am.
Q. ARE YOUR PRINTS INKJET PRINTED?A. No, all my images are printed using emulsion techniques. Everything is etched onto Fujiflex Silver Halide, an archival photographic paper.
Q. CAN I HAVE ACCESS TO HIGH RES FILES?A. No, sorry we do not release our high resolution files.
Q. CAN YOU SHIP OVERSEAS OR INTERSTATE?A.·Yes we can, either mounted or print only. Due to freight and logistical reasons I do suggest it is best to buy the print only for overseas buyers.
Q. CAN I SEE THE PRINTS IN REAL LIFE BEFORE I PURCHASE?A. Yes, we can arrange a meeting if you are in Sydney Metro area.
Q. HOW DO YOU GET YOUR PRINTS SO LARGE?A. I have my own in-house Heidelberg Drum scanner, allowing me to scan my files as high as 1.6Gigabytes, in 48bit lab·colour.
Q. CAN I HAVE MY PRINT FRAMED?A. Yes there is an endless choice of framing options. You can purchase the print and take it straight to a professional framer. Even if you decide to purchase a mounted print, this can also be framed in the future.
Q. HOW OFTEN DO YOU SHOOT?A. Every chance I can get. Every sunrise and sunset is unique. I take every opportunity I can to be out photographing.
Q. WHY ARE YOU IMAGES SO BRIGHT AND LIFE LIKE?A. Its all about the process. The film is Fuji Velvia, which highly saturates and enhances colour. Once I have scanned in 48 bit lab colour (far more superior than RGB scanning, and using twice as much colour gamut) and printing on professional paper, it gives an amazing end result, almost a 3D feel.
Q. WILL MY PRINT FADE?A. The Silver Halide print, if mounted correctly, will not fade. this paper has a print life of 90 years. The image should be mounted to archival aluminium, not MDF board. Please keep this in mind if you intend to purchase a print and have it framed by a local framer.
Q. ARE YOU PRINTS LIMITED EDITIONS?A. All my panoramas are limited editions, they are all hand signed and numbered and will be issued a certificate of authenticity. My smaller 35mm are open edition, they will still be hand signed but not numbered.
Q. ARE YOUR IMAGES UNDER COPYRIGHT?A. Yes all my images have copyright, none of my images are allowed to be used in any way or form for reprinting or electronically manipulated.
