Creating a Photographic Masterpiece

CAPTURING THE IMAGE

Marks stunning Limited Edition Landscape prints start by capturing the right image. Using only a Linhof/Schneider panoramic camera,·and the finest films available, Mark spends days, sometimes weeks away in remote parts of Australia looking for that perfect one shot that can tell you a story, waiting for all elements of nature·to fall together.

IMAGE SELECTION

At the end of a photographic expedition, Mark processes all film. Getting the right image to be classed as a limited edition, goes through a thorough scrutinising process with up to several people. Each transparency has to be correct and hold all qualities of a perfect panorama to be used as a limited edition (colour, shadow detail, and light gained).

DRUM SCANNING

Once the perfect transparency is selected for a category to be used as a limited edition, the next process is drum scanning the transparency. With his own in-house studio, Mark uses one of·the finest Heidelberg drum scanners in the world. The transparency has to be scanned at a file size of 1.3g of data at 48 bit lab colour, turning the transparency into an ultra large digital file.

PRINTING

At the end of each scan, the image is brought onto screen and undergoes a series of tests to make sure the image to be used is perfect for printing. Every square inch needs to be inspected for the smallest of imperfections. After all inspections are completed, we then go ahead with printing. With state of the art printer, the unrivalled quality Silver Halide paper, prints are made. Each Limited Edition print is once again inspected for any small imperfection, before being signed and ready for mounting and framing.
