I enjoy photographing Australia's history and nothing comes closer than places that stand the test of time.

Wallace's Hut is located in the Victorian high country. The history dates back to 1889, built from snow gum slabs and woolybutt shingles, it was named after the Wallace family, father David and his three sons, Arthur William and Stuart.

The hut acted as a safe haven for those who sought refuge from the elements in cold temperatures. Wallace's hut is over 120 years old. I needed a shot that would show character whilst framing this image. I noticed the texture and colours of the snow gums, the temperature was a mere 3 degrees. I had spent several days waiting for the right cloud cover. I felt the snow gums had to be included in the shot.
